Please find below a recent release we wrote on two of our star A Level students. Part time carer Claire has gone on to study Medicine and Ffion has gone on to pursue a career in Aeronautical Engineering at Imperial College London. Musiab Bhat was given an unconditional offer to read Politics, Philosophy and Economics at the University of Oxford, gaining 5A*s and an A. Rhian Gruer had grades of A* A* A and will be studying Biochemistry (Molecular and Cellular) at the University of Oxford.

Speaking about her time at CSFC, Rhian (formerly of Radyr Comprehensive School), said: “Miss Bendle and Dr Foster in the Careers Department simplified the whole UCAS university application process for all of us. They were able to give individual and specific advice despite being extremely busy, and I am grateful for their help with my Oxford University application. My favourite activity outside of lessons was my free time spent with the Glee Club. The drama / music theatre society was so much fun, and I will never forget both performances that I worked on. The rehearsal process and the show weekend were fabulous and so fun despite all the stress.”

Musiab (formerly of Kings Monkton) writes: “I believe that my extensive Work Experience placements have benefited me in my Oxford application; I have actually done five placements in total so far. Mr Sage at CSFC kindly organised last year for me to join Cardiff University’s Finance Department for one week, and I have also worked with an MP for the Conservative party in Caerphilly, and have had three different medical placements in A&E and doctor surgeries alongside GPs. The UCAS Preparation Programme in August helped my university application immensely – in fact, a question that I had practised at the College luckily came up in an interview! I was President of the NASA society twice and nearly made it to Florida for the finals, attending the London events. I devoted a lot of time to my role as President of the ACE Volunteering Club. There are currently four clubs a week, and I managed a team of 70 volunteers throughout my studies. We travel to various Cardiff based youth clubs and help educate poor students each week, helping vulnerable students.”
